Dwayne Jones

Dwayne Jones, Founder and Managing Partner of Urban Equity, LLC, is a well-seasoned veteran in the area of small business incubation, with over twenty years of experience in community and economic development.

He knows first-hand the impact that entrepreneurship, government relations and small business development can have on neighborhoods and cities: Jones has successfully launched and grown 4 startups and he consults with dozens firms on small business growth strategies. In 2004, Jones was appointed Mayoral Senior Advisor, Director of Community Development and head of the Communities of Opportunity (COO) initiative. COO is a public/private partnership between the City of San Francisco and local philanthropy which facilitates system reform and strategically leverages the city’s $7 billion dollars in physical and economic investments.

Jones is nationally recognized as a social entrepreneur because of his ability to develop “Community to Business” relationships with residents, employers, and unions. His innovative business approach is reshaping economic development and the manner in which jobs are created throughout the nation. He is also regarded as a leader in social innovation and public/ community relations.

A long list of civic leaders have recognized Jones for his success in community/economic development including Former Supervisor Sophie Maxwell, Supervisor Malia Cohen, Former Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr., Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom, and Minority Whip Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.

Jones holds two undergraduate degrees from UC Berkeley and a Graduate Degree from University of the Eastbay.
